Since our main current roles here are support to the OMF Team, we want to highlight the current areas of activity of the Team here, so that you can understand better how our (you and us) part is contributing to the bigger picture.  There are currently about 75 adults and 35 children on the OMF Cambodia Team.  These workers operate with one of 4 main emphases: church work, development work, team support and initial language study.  Of course, all of these emphases have the overriding purpose of contributing to bringing the Gospel of God’s love in Jesus Christ to the people of Cambodia. 

Currently we are involved in 2 church plants in Phnom Penh, one of which has planted several daughter congregations, whilst the other is approaching the point of being handed over to national leadership.  We also have members planting churches in 6 upcountry locations, 2 of which are amongst minority peoples in the NE of the country. 

The church work element also incorporates members involved in student ministries, radio ministries, Bible School lecturing, Christian publishing and Theological Education by Extension. 

The development emphasis focuses on medical work, people care and education.  The Medical Team meets the medical needs of some of the poorest people in Cambodia, including those in prisons.  The People Care Team provides vocational training and support/ministry amongst Phnom Penh factory workers, young mothers and orphans who are vulnerable and at risk.   The Education Team has one couple teaching in the Dental School, and others who teach a variety of subjects at the Royal University of Phnom Penh. 

The Support Team serves the function of providing necessary backup to keep people in these Field Ministries.  The remainder are in full-time language study during their first year here.  As you already know, we all, regardless of our main ministry designation, have direct daily contact with Khmer people, which is just as significant.  As we look at this bigger picture, we know we are privileged to be a part of what God is doing for His Kingdom purposes through this Team – and you are partners too, which we trust blesses you.
